Crochet Classes 2004

March 27, 28, 2004: Margaret Hubert and our members Melissa Leapman and Lily Chin will be teaching at Ewephoric Weekend, March 27 and 28, at the  Wool Connection in Avon CT. Margaret will teach workshops on Free Form Knitting, Free Form Crochet and Patchwork Knitting. Melissa and Lily will teach knitting classes and both will have book signings on the Saturday evening.

Starting on April 3, Arlene Mintzer will teach a five-week class on Creative Handbag Design for Knitters and Crocheters at Parsons School of Design. April 14-May 19th (6 sessions): Our member Arlene Mintzer will teach “The Art of HAT Making for Knitters & Crocheters” from April 14th to May 19th (6 sessions) on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Students will create one-of-a-kind hats with emphasis on creating fabrics that are unusual and beautiful to look at and exciting to wear. Students are encouraged to mix knitting and crocheting in the same piece and to embellish their work with beads, feathers and other materials. Arnetta Kenney will be teaching Crochet for Pleasure at FIT. The program covers the design and planning process, and teaches you how to do modular crochet -- a method that enhances the draping of crocheted garments for a softer silhouette. Recommended for people with a basic knowledge of crochet stitches. Class meets Wednesday evenings for six weeks beginning either April 28th or May 5th. May 22nd - 23rd: Margaret Hubert will be teaching freeform knitting, freeform crochet, patchwork knitting, entrelac crochet and finishing your ufo's. You can sign up for any or all, at any time and we will teach what you want to learn. They are trying a new experiment, so everyone does not necessarily have to be doing the same thing at the same time. Each day will have two half-day sessions, sign up for as few or as many as you like.

In addition, the store will be holding sales and the town of Pawling is holding their sidewalk sales the same weekend, so should be fun. Our member Michelle Bishop is organizing and teaching at the Harlem Needle Arts Conference on October 23, 24 and 31, 2004 at Oberia D. Arlene is also teaching a Creative Knitted & Crochet Textiles Workshop, Saturday, December 11th from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm.  Due to a popular demand, this workshop is back! This workshop aims to create a piece of beautiful fabric using your favorite yarns & other unique materials such as bamboo, paper, silk stainless steel, etc. You can use any technique you love and explore others.
