Knit-Out, Crochet 2003 Updates

From Mary DuBois

For the 2002 Knit-Out we decorated bookmarks with crocheted motifs (approximately 700 of them!) and distributed them as an advertisement of our Guild. We plan to do the same thing for the Sept. 21, 2003 Knit-Out -- only we're starting earlier. Please make motifs no larger than 1 to 1-1/2 inches -- they can be squares, circles, triangles, whatever suits your fancy. We'll need at least 1,000 if not more.

For an attractive, neat appearance, please weave ends in -- need not be perfect with the weaving, but excess thread should be woven down the wrong side toward the center.

From Barbara Hillery

Naomi Allen, who coordinated the Demonstrations last year is performing the same function this year. She would love it if everyone who did a demo would repeat it, but also welcomes new faces and ideas. Subjects last year included freeform, tapestry crochet, crocheted Halloween and thanksgiving wreaths. If you have a specialty you would like to show for a half hour, please contact Barbara.

There were quite a few of us who were at Lion Brand on May 19th (thank you to all who came) and we got a good start on the crochet starts. Some took home extra supplies to make more at home. If you have supplies you'd like to share with others at the Guild, bring them to the June meeting and other members can work on them. If you have finished starts, the square should be attached to the skein with the needle and all should be delivered to Lion Brand (34 W 15th St.), clearly marked "For Nancy Thomas."

We will need members to help out at the NYCCG table-set up, display, bring display aids, staffing throughout the day and clean up. We will start to circulate a sign up sheet at the next meeting. Please be thinking about where and when you can staff our table.
