News From Chain Link

I want, first of all, to thank Lily Chin for her invaluable help in putting our Chapter Challenge together with her usual style and flair. She worked very hard on this, so a huge thank you goes to her and all those who lent us swatches and items to include, because we won first prize!

The conference in general was awesome. In particular, I thought that freeform crochet made a huge impression, with our former teachers Margaret Hubert and Prudence Mapstone leading the way, both at the juried exhibit and the fashion show. Other contributors to the fashion show included Willena Nanton, Belinda Deliz and yours truly.

Another contributor to the fashion show, with a breath-taking ecru swing coat, was Pauline Turner who is also the CGOA International Liaison, master teacher and author of How To Crochet and many other books. I mention this because Pauline will be doing a US tour and it looks like she will be offering us two workshops on November 22nd, so hold that date!

Susan Huxley was another major contributor to the fashion show, including sweaters from Today’s Crochet, as well as the soon to be released Aran Crochet sweater book. Susan taught a three-hour Aran Stitches workshop at the conference and it was the first to sell out. Well, save another date: October 25th, when she will come to NY to teach a six-hour aran stitches workshop, which will include copies of the book.

More details on both workshops and the conference will be included in the next newsletter.
