Crochet Contests

1. Contest deadline changed! Martingale Press (publisher of Aran Stitches, Crocheted Sweaters, Today's Crochet, etc.) is sponsoring a crocheted socks contest. First prize is $300+ of gifts. 2. Mary Maxim’s Spring 2004 catalogue announces an Original Afghan Contest.

One $500 Winner will be selected from each category and the Grand Prize Winner will win an additional $1500. Categories are Traditional Crochet, Knit by Hand, Baby (Knit or Crochet) and Crochet with Cross Stitch. For rules and entry form, send SASE (business size) to: Mary Maxim 2004 Afghan Contest, Attn: Becky Symons, 2001 Holland Ave., Port Huron, MI 48060. Completed entry forms must be received by May 15, 2004. Afghan entries must be received by June 15, 2004. Enter as often as you like in as many categories as you wish!

3. The Rag Shop is sponsoring a Cuddle Up Yarn Blanket Contest. You may enter as often as you like.

Contest will run through Sat., May 1, 2004. All entries must be sent to the Rag Shop directly, no later than May 1.

Contestants must crochet or knit a blanket with Caron yarn.You may choose from Wintuk, Pounder and Simply Soft - minimum size 40" x 57", maximum size 56" x 78" (All measurements without fringe). The pattern must be an original design.

A representative of the Craft Yarn Council will choose the winner based on creative use of color, technique and overall design.

Three winners will be chosen: one Grand Prize: $1,000, one 1st Prize: $300 and one 2nd Prize: $200.

All blankets will become the sole property of the Rag Shops, Inc. and will be donated to Children’s Aid & Family Services, NJ.
