From the Chain Link brochure:
This year the CGOA will be having two challenges. The winners will be announced at the Chapter Luncheon Saturday, July 24.
CAPS FOR KIDS!
The chapter that sends in the largest number of hats will win! Beverly Donato has agreed to be the “receiving” center for the hats, so you can send them to her as you make them if you wish. Your chapter doesn’t even have to have someone attending the conference to win, or to enter! Caps can be done in any size, and any pattern. Caps can be brought to the conference or mailed. The best result of this challenge is that it will benefit the children in the New Hampshire area, where hats are a must in winter.
MAP QUEST!
The Map Quest! Challenge has four parts:
(1) Submit a map (local, county, state, country, globe?) showing where your chapter has been.
(2) Add footnotes to your pins telling us the location, and what your chapter did there. If most of your activities happened at your meeting location, use the legend/footnote to describe what you did and when.
(3) Put in a small map showing where each of your members live in relation to your regular meeting location.
(4) Be sure to include a brief description of your chapter (100 words or less) somewhere on your map! Each map presentation should be no larger than a single poster board (22" X 28") OR a Tri Fold Presentation Board (36" X 48"). Poster Board entries may have to be mounted with tape on the back or tacks in the corners, so please plan your entry accordingly.
The NYCCG will be entering both contests. We are planning a Saturday crochet day at E 23rd St., where we will provide yarn, munchies, patterns and advice if needed. Date to be announced at the June meeting and posted to Yahoo! In the meantime, feel free to start making hats. If you’d like some yarn from the Guild’s stash, let Barbara know. We could also use a volunteer to coordinate all the hat donations.
Willena will be in charge of the MapQuest project. If you would like to help her with that one, please contact her.
