Chain Link 2004: Chapter Challenges

This year the CGOA will be having two challenges that we would like to particpate in - Capts ofr Kids, and Map Quest

From the Chain Link brochure:

This year the CGOA will be having two challenges. inners will be announced at the Chapter Luncheon Saturday, July 24.

CAPS FOR KIDS!

The chapter that sends in the largest number of hats will win! Your chapter doesn’t even have to have someone attending the conference to win, or to enter! Caps can be done in any size, and any pattern. The best result of this challenge is that it will benefit the children in the New Hampshire area, where hats are a must in winter.

Note from the NYCCG: Please start making hats asap. The chapter that submits the most hats wins this challenge and, as the largest chapter, if we each make at least 2 hats (though more is just fine!), we will have a good chance of winning this challenge. Not sure what size hat to make? Check http://www.yarnstandards.com/sizing.html for standard sizing. And if you need a pattern, a good place to start is http://home.inreach.com/marthac/links.html Or just use the patterns at the end of this newsletter.

Would you like to help coordinate the hat donations? Please let a Board member know. Are you making so many hats that you don’t have time to shop for more yarn? Please let Barbara know and she’ll bring some yarn from the Guild’s stash.

MAP QUEST!

The Map Quest! Challenge has four parts:

(1) Submit a map (local, county, state, country, globe?) showing where your chapter has been.

(2) Add footnotes to your pins telling us the location, and what your chapter did there. If most of your activities happened at your meeting location, use the legend/footnote to describe what you did and when.

(3) Put in a small map showing where each of your members live in relation to your regular meeting location. (4) Be sure to include a brief description of your chapter (100 words or less) somewhere on your map! Each map presentation should be no larger than a single poster board (22" X 28") OR a Tri Fold Presentation Board (36" X 48"). Poster Board entries may have to be mounted with tape on the back or tacks in the corners, so please plan your entry accordingly.

Willena will be in charge of the Map Quest project. If you would like to help her with that one, please contact her.
