From The President

I hope everyone is having a nice summer. The Crochet Guild of America Conference was great. We had about 12-15 people from our Guild that attended the event. We were represented at the sock competition by Belinda Deliz and myself. It was the first time that Belinda had crocheted socks in a blue and beige variegated yarn and she did a very good job. In addition, we had several members do the catwalk at the fashion show and we all had a good time doing the show. Melanie Mays closed the fashion show with a black dress with crocheted halter that was a little revealing but beautifully done.

Even though we did not win the Map Quest, it was amazing to see all the different events and workshops that the Guild has done. Moreover, I think we are very unique in a different way in that we are accessible to everyone by car, train, bus, feet, and ferry and this is what makes us special.

Next year’s convention will be in Oakland, California. I hope that people are able to go because it is an opportunity to meet new people and to see the different ideas and techniques. Most important it is a great way to promote Crochet and the people that have dedicated their lives to the craft.
