New Feature: Spreading the Good Word about Our Guild and Our Website

We would like your stories of how you introduced folks to our Guild.

We would like your stories of how you introduced folks to our Guild. We would like to run at least one story per month (preferably more!) and at our holiday meeting in December, we will give a prize to the best story. This can be a story about how you recruited a new member, or about how you found out about our guild. Stories will remain anonymous until December. All stories should be sent to the Guild email or the Guild PO box (addresses on our masthead on page 1).

Story 1:

I went to look for crochet books at one of the local bookstores where I live in Westchester and found a woman sitting on the floor going through crochet books. She apologized for being in the way but I told her to enjoy herself. I struck up a conversation and found out that she is a beginner and was looking at the crochet dictionaries. I told her about the NYC Crochet Guild as she works in NYC and gave her the Guild business card. I also told her about the needlework group that meets at the New Rochelle Library on Tuesdays from 10:30 am to Noon (as the Library is closed on weekends during the summer). This group was meeting on alternating Fridays and Saturdays and this may be the schedule again once fall begins. She was very pleased to get all that information.

Story 2:

After our last Guild meeting I went to Starbucks to get my frapuccino. A woman customer was wearing a beautiful crocheted lace short sleeve top, and I commented on how beautiful it was and asked if she made it. She said yes she did - years ago - but she is really into knitting. I said if you ever want to come to a Guild meeting, I told her where and when we meet and gave her the Guild business card. She told me she lives upstate but was eager to take the card. I mentioned that she could look at our website see what activities we have going on.
