Announcements:
Treasurer Jo Ann Segreto Preston brought up to the general meeting the sponsoring of a woman in Bosnia (“Women for Women International”) – as presented by Amy Millstein & son Ben at the May 2005 general meeting. Amy informed NYCCG members about the not-for-profit organization founded in 1993 to help women overcome the horrors of war and civil strife, as they crochet for employment by selling what they make. For information, log on to www.WomenForWomen.org or call 202-737-7705.). NYCCG would send $25 a month and send letters to exchange with the sponsored person. Voting was done by a show of hands. NYCCG voted to sponsor a woman.
President, Willena Nanton displayed the completed crocheted halter top that was featured in a pattern in the June 2005 newsletter.
Barbara Williams announced the starting of “Motif Making Season” for Knit Out 2005 (in October). Six patterns for motifs are featured in the June 2005 newsletter. Barbara requests that they be given to her (in a plastic baggie, with the crocheter’s name) as they are completed rather than waiting until the last minute/meeting before the Knit Out.
Librarian Maria Deliz described the Resource Center and how it works. Books, booklets, leaflets, etc. are signed out, and a deposit is left (price is dependent on the item). When the item is returned to the library, the money is returned to the borrower.
