NYCCG Bookmark Heaven at KnitOut! CrochetToo!

I arrived at the Knit Out on Sunday with 1000 bookmarks for the crowd. I had a plan. We were not giving out anything until 12 noon and would give out 200 bookmarks each hour. Well, when Clover had run out of needles and other vendors ran out of their giveaways, the New York City Crochet Guild still had bookmarks. Every person who wanted a bookmark got one. And we are ahead of the game for Knit Out 2006. We have bookmarks left over.

I received motifs at meetings and by mail. We met at 23rd Street and had a motif day the Saturday before the Knit Out. We glued, stamped, and assembled the bookmarks. I came home with 1300 bookmarks.

This is not a miracle or due to any superiority on my part. It is due to a core of dedicated crocheters from our guild. They are Barbara Bush, Randy Cavaliere, Mary Conner, Anne Cullen, Belinda and Maria Deliz, Mary DuBois, Linda Gerstein, Barbara Hillery, Rosalie Hollingsworth, Jessie Latimer, Kim Manger, Teresa Meade, Bernice Meltzer, Amy Milstein, Tatyana Mirer, Anna Morgan, Susan Napoli, Jeanette Ng, JoAnn Preston, Irene Rodriguez, Melissa Halpern-Rozas, Jill Schrier, Roselle Siegel, Gladys Spivey, Cassandra Stevens and Patricia Williams.

Some of our members should be given extra applause for their efforts. To Mary Dubois for cutting all the paper stock into bookmark size as well as crocheting over 100 motifs. To Marie and Belinda Deliz who help assemble over 300 bookmarks. To Linda Gerstein who did 140 crochet starts alone, for the Learn to Crochet booth above and beyond her motifs. To Anna Morgan who ran the motif and bookmark assembly efforts and who crocheted over 200 motifs. We stopped counting Jill Schrier’s motifs after 200. Thanks ladies. None of this could be accomplished without your extra efforts. Thanks again.
