Calling all knitters and crocheters who love kids!

From Mary Colucci, The Craft Yarn Council

The Craft Yarn Council has been asked to be a part of this year's NYC Parks & Recreation's Eggstravaganza! on April 15, 2006, at the Central Park Band Shell (72nd Street in the park, across the street from Bethesda Fountain) from 10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

“This is one of two major events sponsored by NYC Parks & Recreation. It attracts between 30,000-40,000 kids and family members. Of course, the major attraction is an Easter egg hunt, but throughout the park there are a variety of kid-friendly/family-orientated activities.

CYCA has been asked to create a fun yarn tent. While we have not finalized exactly what we will be doing in the large tent and we do not have a clue as to the mix of ages we will have, I expect it to be a combination of how to knit/crochet along with project-specfic activities. However, I expect that kids will be the focus.

What are needed are hearty souls who will enjoy working with lots kids for four hours. CYCA will pay teachers who spend all four hours working the tent. As we do for Knit-Out, we will prepare handouts for the event, which might involve knitting or crocheting small "starts."”

Anyone interested in volunteering to help can contact the guild to get in touch with Mary.
