NYC Crochet Guild
Whew! 2006 was a whirlwind. With hats, motifs, scarves and other events, the year flew by. A few days into the New Year I was setting up my weekly planner and my son asked me what do you need that for? I told him it was to keep up with all the events. With the Museum of Arts and Design exhibit, workshops and conventions, I need a weekly calendar. Now I just have to remember to look at it.
Our first charity event of the year is Warm Up America squares for the museum, due Saturday, February 24 at MAD. The event takes place from 10am to 4pm and we need crocheters to join squares. We will accept knitted squares also. This is an opportunity to try out new stitches. Remember they are to be 7” x 9”.
We want to get our non profit status completed this year and get our book project under way. The board and I agree that to keep control we will have to publish the book ourselves. Be ready to roll up your sleeves–this is going to be a group effort.
Finally, I would like to increase our coffers. By year’s end I would like us to have $10,000 in our reserves. I believe we will need this to cover publishing and promotional costs to launch our book. I am asking for fund raising ideas, beyond our workshops. Please give me or any board member your ideas at a meeting in a brief written paragraph.

*It has been brought to my attention that a few of our members are taking advantage of the materials that are available through our resource center. Through the generosity of some of our members we have materials in the resource center that are unavailable or out of print. Some of these materials are being sold on eBay for more than $100. If you have left a $5.00 deposit and have not returned the materials, please do so at the next meeting.

Our April meeting day falls on Maundy (Holy) Thursday and the church will not be available. We have to move our meeting to Wednesday, April 4th at 6:45pm. Please do not come earlier, as the church will not be available to us until 6:45.
