Materials

• White cotton crochet thread size 10
• Size 8 or 10 Crochet hook.
• Cotton crochet thread size 10-color of choice (optional)
• Elastic with beads or plain elastic
• Embellishments of choice, such as flowers (optional)

Stitch

Picot Stitch: (picot st): Ch 3, sl st in 3rd chain from hook.

Instructions

Ch 176 with white or optional color.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Turn. (175)

Fasten off if optional color was used. Sl st in 1st sc to attach white.

Row 2: Ch 3, skip 1st sc, Dc in next and each sc across. Turn

Row 3: Ch 3, skip 1st dc, Dc in next and each dc across. Turn.

Row 4: Ch 4 (remember ch 4 from previous row counts as 1st stitch) *Chain 6, skip next 5 dc, tr in next stitch*. Rep from *to * to the end. Turn

Row 5: Ch 1, *6 sc in ch 6, 1 sc in tr*. Rep from * to* to the end. Turn

Row 6: Ch 3 *Dc in next 7 sc, ch 3, dc in next 7 sc*. Rep from *to* to the end. Ch 1. Turn

Row 7: *Ch 4, sc in ch 3, picot st, Sc in ch 3, ch 4, skip 3 sc, sc in next sc*. Rep from * to * to end of the row.

To finish: Crochet the ends of the garter together. Determine the appropriate amount of elastic to use. Sew one side of elastic into place at the crocheted seam. Weave the elastic around the garter and sew other end to seam. Add other embellishments if desired.
