Materials

  • 4-ply Worsted Wt. Red Yarn (A)
  • 4 ply Worsted Weight Green Yarn (B)
  • 4 ply Worsted Weight White Yarn (C)
  • Size G or H Crochet hook

Hexagon Motifs

Small Stocking: 12 Motifs – Only 2 Rnds and 2 Colors.

Medium Stocking: 12 Motifs – All 3 Rnds.

Large Stocking: 15 Motifs – All 3 Rnds.

Instructions

With Color A, ch 6, join with sl st to form a ring

Rnd 1 (Right Side): Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc throughout), 2 dc in ring, ch 2, * 3 dc, ch 2 in ring*. Rep from * to * 4x. Join with sl st to top of ch-3. Fasten off.

Rnd 2: With right side facing, join Color B with sl st in any ch 2 sp, ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same space as joining, * 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch 2 sp*. Rep from * to * 4x. Join with sl st to top of ch-2. Fasten off.

Rnd 3: With right side facing, join Color C with sl st in any ch 2 sp, ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp as joining, (first corner made); 3 dc in sp between next two groups of 3 dc (side); *3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in next ch 2 space (corner); 3 dc in sp between next two groups of 3 dc*. Rep from * to * 4x, join with sl st to top of ch-2. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Connecting Motifs

See drawing below. Using tapestry needle, sew through outer loops only of each motif, carefully matching stitches.

Hanger: Join Color A with sl st at top edge of stocking, ch 15, sc in same st, sc in each stitch around outer edge of stocking, placing 2 sc in each point, until reaching ch 15. Sc in each ch of ch-15. Fasten off.
