Materials

  • 1 lb (450 grams) lace weight yarn, work 3 strands together or fingering yarn 
  • Size F Crochet Hook

Pattern Stitches

Unfinished front post treble crochet (UFPTR)- wrap yarn over twice, insert hook from front to front around vertical bar between 2 sts, yo and draw up a loop, (yo and draw through 2 lps on hook) twice, 2 loops remain on hook; after each st one additional loop remains on hook.

Increase stitches at the end of row (INC. STS.)-Insert hook in the top of last tr made, draw up a lp, then yo and draw up a lp, yo and draw it through two remaining lps on hook. *Insert hook in the single vertical thread which forms the left side of the previous sc, yo, draw up a loop and then yo and draw up a lp, yo and draw it through two remaining lps on hook*. Rep. from * to * as many times as needed.


Finished Measurements: Approximately 78 inches wide and 38 inches long

Note: Shawl is worked from the point to the top.

Instructions

Ch 15

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (14 sc).

Row 2: Ch 7, ufptr in each of the next 14 sts, (15 lps on hook), yo and draw through all loops on hook, yo and draw through one loop on hook, ch 6, sc in top of the turning ch. Turn.

Row 3: Ch 4 (counts as 1st tr), tr in next ch, dc in next 2 chs, hdc in next 2 ch, sc in next ch, skip one st (center st), sc in next ch, hdc in next 2 chs, dc next 2 chs, tr in next 2 chs. Turn.

Row 4: Repeat row 2.

Row 5: (increase row) Ch 18, sc in 2nd ch and in next 13 chs, skip 4 chs (counts as tr), tr in 1st ch of ch 7 of the previous row, dc in next 2 chs, hdc in next 2 chs, sc in next ch, skip one st (center st), sc in next ch, hdc in next 2 chs, dc in next 2 chs, tr in next 2 chs. Place 14 inc. sts. at the end. (see above)

Row 6: *Ch 7, ufptr in next 14 sts, (15 lps on hook), yo and draw through all lps on hook, yo and draw through 1 lp on hook, ch 7, sc in the top of turning ch*. Rep. from *to * to end. Turn.

Row 7: Ch 4, (counts as 1st tr) tr in next ch, dc in next 2 chs, hdc in next 2 chs, sc in the next ch, skip one st (center st), sc in next ch, hdc in next 2 chs, dc in next 2 chs, tr in next 2 chs, *ch 1, tr in next 2 chs, dc in next 2 chs, hdc in next 2 chs, sc in next ch, skip one st (center st), sc in next ch, hdc in next 2 chs, dc in next 2 chs, tr in next 2 chs *. Rep. from * to * to end. Turn.

Row 8: *Ch 7, ufptr in next 14 sts, (15 loops on hook), yo and draw through all loops on hook, yo and draw through one loop on hook, ch 7, sc in ch 1 sp, of the previous row*. Rep. from * to* to the last 14 sts. Ch 7, ufptr in next 14 sts, (15 lps on hook), yo and draw through all lps on hook, yo and draw through one lp on hook, ch 6, sc in the top of turning chain. Turn.

Row 9: (increase row) Ch 18, sc in 2nd ch and in next 13 chs, skip 4 chs (counts as 1st tr) tr in next st, dc in next 2 chs, hdc in next 2 chs, sc in next st, skip one st (center st) sc in next ch, hdc in next 2 chs, dc in next 2 chs, tr in next 2 chs, *ch 1, tr in next chs, dc in next 2 chs, hdc in next 2 chs, sc in next ch, skip one st (center st), sc in next ch, hdc in next 2 chs, dc in next 2 chs, tr in next 2 chs*. Continuing Rows: Repeat Rows 6-9 until shawl measures 38” or desired length. Be sure to finish with row 8

Last row: Ch 3, dc in each st across.

Fringes: Cut about 20-30 10” strands per fringe. The fringe should be placed along the sides of the shawl. Fold strands in half and pull half way through the space, open up the middle of the fringe and bring the loose ends through and pull. Repeat all around the two sides.
